Job Summary

This role offers a unique opportunity for a skilled Bioinformatician to lead the Bioinformatics department at the Bundeswehr Institute of Radiobiology in Munich. You will be instrumental in developing and managing radiobiological research projects with a strong bioinformatics focus, while also mentoring Master's and PhD students. A key responsibility involves establishing robust databases and bioinformatics methods for managing and analyzing large datasets, particularly in genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics. Furthermore, you will coordinate the institute's IT support, oversee the development of research-specific IT infrastructure, and contribute to expert opinions and assessments in IT network matters. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or university diploma in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a comparable field. A PhD in Bioinformatics or a comparable field is desired.

Experience

  • Professional experience in scientific work in bioinformatics, evidenced by at least one professional activity
  • Experience with workflow managers, container virtualization, and High Performance Computing, evidenced by at least one professional activity
  • Experience with the analysis of short- and long-read sequencing data, evidenced by at least one professional activity

  • German citizenship required. Commitment to the liberal democratic basic order as per the German Basic Law. Willingness to participate in a health suitability assessment. Willingness to participate in an extended security clearance. Successful completion of security clearance level Ü2 is mandatory.
