Job Summary
This Assistant Professorship at the University of Cologne seeks an early-career economist to contribute to research, teaching, and academic administration within the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences. The role focuses on the economics of sustainable energy, particularly from a micro-economic perspective, involving training students and doctoral candidates. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Institute of Energy Economics (EWI) and align with the Faculty’s Sustainable Smart Energy & Mobility (SSEM) initiative or the ECONtribute Excellence Cluster. The position requires a strong research track record, a promising research agenda in sustainable energy economics, and a deep understanding of energy and/or emission markets. The role also involves acquiring and managing third-party-funded projects, offering a stimulating academic environment with career development and family-friendly support.

Doctoral degree in Economics or related field
Experience
- Early career stage (ideally, no more than three years since completion of a doctoral degree)
- Excellent track record in research
- At least one publication in a recognized international peer-reviewed journal
- Promising research agenda related to the economics of sustainable energy
- Credible commitment to energy economics in research and teaching
- Potential to successfully acquire and manage third-party-funded projects
