Job Summary
This role involves ensuring the 24/7 operational readiness of IT infrastructure and digital radio systems for the Heilbronn Fire Department. The specialist will manage and maintain IT systems for Tetra digital radio, ensure the availability of IT services for emergency operations, troubleshoot and prevent IT disruptions, and manage digital alerting for emergency personnel. Key responsibilities include managing wireless BOS communication technology, performing updates and programming on digital radio devices and communication systems in emergency vehicles, and managing radio equipment. The position also involves procuring IT resources, conceptualizing and managing the fire department's IT network, and overseeing contract and support management for system components to ensure high availability and security. This is a critical role for maintaining the city's emergency response capabilities.
Required Skills
Education
Completed degree in Information and Communication Technology (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology) or equivalent, OR completed IT technical training as an IT Specialist for System Integration, IT System Electronics Technician or equivalent.
Experience
- Professional experience in information technology, specifically IT administration or system integration
- Current expertise in networked information and communication systems, applications, and operating systems
- Experience with standard and user software
- Desirable: Experience in BOS (Authorities and Organizations with Security Tasks) sector
