Job Summary

Join the German Human Genome-Phenome Archive (GHGA) team as a Senior Frontend Engineer, playing a crucial role in developing user-facing platforms that enable scientists to securely exchange genomic data. You will be instrumental in implementing intuitive user interfaces for the GHGA data portal and other web services, from creating wireframes and prototypes to ensuring a consistent corporate identity and design language across all frontends. This role involves architecting, testing, and maintaining high-performance web applications using Angular, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS, while collaborating with an interdisciplinary and international team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking biomedical research, working with leading initiatives like the European Genomics Data Infrastructure (GDI) and the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) to build the next generation of research tools.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Web Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field; alternatively, an equivalent qualification with extensive, relevant professional experience

Experience

  • Significant professional experience as a frontend engineer in a senior role
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating leadership on complex projects
  • Extensive experience with the Angular framework
  • Demonstrated experience using Tailwind CSS for building modern, responsive user interfaces
  • Strong experience with frontend testing frameworks such as Jest, Playwright, or Cypress
  • Professional experience with Git version control system
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and creatively, taking ownership of large-scale frontend challenges
