Job Summary

This leadership role involves overseeing the National Park Administration, a team of approximately 100 employees dedicated to the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park, Biosphere Reserve, and UNESCO World Heritage site. The successful candidate will be responsible for environmental monitoring, planning, communication, and education initiatives, acting as a key representative for the LKN.SH Director. This position is crucial for the protection and ongoing development of the National Park, requiring active participation in national and international forums and ensuring compliance with relevant nature conservation laws. It's an attractive opportunity for an experienced leader passionate about environmental protection and sustainable development in a unique natural landscape.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master's or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Landscape Management, (Marine) Biology, Environmental Sciences, or comparable, qualifying for the role. Alternatively, qualification for career path group 2, second entry level.

Experience

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in nature conservation, preferably in nature conservation administration
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in leading organizational units
  • Professional experience in establishing and managing working or project groups

Languages

German (Fluent)English (Basic)

Additional

  • Must possess a Class B driving license (formerly Class 3). Willingness to work full-time or part-time, though a very high employment share is required. Position is located in Tönning, Germany. Ability to understand complex nature conservation and political contexts for a higher state authority.
