Job Summary

This role involves coordinating and optimizing the continuous air pollutant measurement network for the State Office for the Environment (LfU) in Itzehoe, Germany. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the routine operation of the air measurement network, ensuring data quality, and adapting measurement procedures to the latest technological advancements. Key tasks include participating in quality assurance working groups, conducting comparative measurements, and performing technical duties in the air hygiene monitoring lab and field. This position requires a background in technical engineering, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards in environmental data collection.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree or University of Applied Sciences degree (Dipl.-Ingenieur (FH)) in a technical field, preferably Electrical Engineering, Physical Technology, Environmental Technology with a focus on Measurement and Information Technology, or a comparable technical discipline.

Experience

  • Professional experience in coordinating measurement operations or working groups/projects (desirable)
  • Several years of experience with type-approved measuring devices for ozone, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter in ambient air (calibration and field operation) (desirable)
  • Experience working with measuring devices for ultrafine particulate matter in ambient air (desirable)
  • Professional experience in a DAkkS-accredited laboratory (desirable)

Additional

  • Valid Class B driving license; willingness and physical fitness for work in the testing laboratory, outdoors (year-round), in and on measurement containers, and for occasional carrying and lifting of gas cylinders and equipment up to 20 kg; willingness to drive a company car; willingness for full-day field assignments and multi-day business trips; knowledge in occupational safety and radiation protection (desirable).
