Job Summary
This role involves comprehensive IT infrastructure management within a university library setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, expanding, and administering server and workstation systems across Linux, Windows, and Igel OS, utilizing tools like Bash, Powershell, and Git. A key part of the job includes providing first and second-level IT support through a ticketing system for staff and users, as well as managing and expanding automated software distribution. Additionally, the specialist will maintain and enhance library-specific web applications connected to database and directory systems, leveraging technologies such as LAMP, OpenLDAP/Active Directory, Apache Tomcat, and Git. This position offers the stability of a public service role, potential for civil servant status, and opportunities for professional development within a family-friendly environment.
Required Skills
Education
University degree (Bachelor, Diploma (FH)) in Computer Science or a comparable field, or qualification for the higher technical administrative service of the federal government.
Experience
- Professional experience with Git for setting up, expanding, and administering server and workstation systems
- Professional experience operating, maintaining, and expanding library-specific web applications with Git
- Professional experience with the IT requirements and challenges of university library workstations
- At least 1.5 years of relevant professional experience post-graduation if not possessing civil service qualification

- Must be eligible for civil servant status in Germany (typically German or EU citizenship and under 50 years old at time of appointment).
