Job Summary

This role is for a highly qualified Postdoctoral Core Facility Manager to lead the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Core Facility at the Leibniz Institute on Aging (FLI) in Jena. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and strategically developing the facility, including leading a team, designing and conducting research projects, and securing third-party funding. Day-to-day tasks involve supporting scientists with sequencing project design, overseeing project implementation from sample QC to raw data QC, and contributing technical sequencing details to bioinformaticians. Required Skills

Education

PhD in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related discipline

Experience

  • Several years of relevant experience (ideally three years) in using and maintaining high-end Illumina and Nanopore sequencing platforms
  • Comprehensive experience in library preparation
  • Experience in automated sample preparation
  • Project management skills to organize multiple parallel projects
  • Practical knowledge and hands-on experience in molecular biology laboratory work
  • Proven experience in staff management
