Job Summary

This role offers a unique opportunity for a Research Associate or Doctoral Candidate to contribute to cutting-edge research in Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) at the Technical University of Dresden, in close collaboration with the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR). The successful candidate will be involved in the development and optimization of a state-of-the-art AMS system, focusing on enhancing measurement efficiency and accuracy through novel approaches like negative ion deceleration and laser-ion interaction. Day-to-day tasks include optimizing ion-laser interaction, developing 182Hf-AMS for detecting interstellar atoms, operating and optimizing an ion source, supporting SIMS measurements, and implementing new ionization chambers. This position is ideal for someone with a strong scientific background in physics or related fields, eager to work in a dynamic, international team at the forefront of AMS technology with applications in geology, environmental sciences, and nuclear astrophysics.

Required Skills

Education

Very good university degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Chemistry)

Experience

  • Professional experience with new AMS measurement strategies
