Job Summary
The Philipps University of Marburg is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher (Scientific Staff) for a full-time, fixed-term position in the Institute of Virology, starting November 1, 2025, until April 30, 2027. This role involves conducting scientific research, including infection experiments under BSL-4 conditions, investigating viral replication and transcription using virus surrogate systems, and independently planning, executing, and evaluating experiments under BSL-4 and BSL-2 conditions. The successful candidate will also screen antiviral compounds against filoviruses, study their inhibition mechanisms, and engage in project development and discussion with partners. Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree (Diploma, Master, or equivalent) in Human Biology, Biology, or Chemistry with a doctorate (PhD), or proof of a doctoral procedure nearing completion.
Experience
- Several years of experience working with infectious viruses
- Experience in molecular biology, cell biology, and virological methods
- Experience handling highly pathogenic viruses (BSL-3 or BSL-4 safety conditions) (advantageous)
- Experience conducting animal experiments (advantageous)
- Experience with virus surrogate systems (advantageous)
