Job Summary
This position offers an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Research Associate or PhD student to join the multicultural Schirmeier lab at TUD Dresden University of Technology. The successful candidate will contribute to a DFG-funded project investigating the metabolic connection between neural stem cells and their glial niche, focusing on the central nervous system's metabolic homeostasis using Drosophila as a model organism. Day-to-day activities will involve utilizing genetically encoded fluorescent metabolite sensors, various molecular biology techniques, modern genetic engineering methods, and microscopy. The role requires a strong background in biology or biochemistry, experience in cell or molecular biology, and ideally, familiarity with Drosophila genetics and live imaging. This 3-year, part-time position (65%) provides an excellent pathway for further academic qualification, specifically a PhD, and involves a unique 6-month relocation opportunity to Chile for collaborative research.

Very good MSc or equivalent degree in Biology, Biochemistry/Biophysics
