Job Summary

The Berlin Police Department is seeking multiple IT Administrators to join their Central Service Information and Communication Technology division. These roles focus on critical IT infrastructure, specifically server provisioning, virtualization, storage, and Linux systems. Successful candidates will be responsible for administering various IT systems, including hardware servers, virtualization platforms like VMware and OpenShift, and Microsoft Server systems. They will also work with central data backup systems, IT storage networks (SAN), and modern SQL databases. The positions require strong practical experience in IT fundamentals, system software, and scripting, with an emphasis on problem-solving and a structured approach. Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Bachelor or Diploma (FH)) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a mathematical, scientific, economic, or technical field with relevant experience; or equivalent skills and experience gained through relevant activities.

Experience

  • Professional experience with information technology fundamentals and current software products, system software, and system tools from various manufacturers (e.g., HPE, Dell, Microsoft)
  • Practical experience with central data backup systems (e.g., Data Protector, VEEAM)
  • Practical experience with IT storage networks (SAN)
  • Practical experience with newer generation SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MySQL)
  • Practical experience with virtualization platforms like OpenShift
  • Practical experience in the administration of RedHat and Windows Server operating systems in container operations with OpenShift or Kubernetes
  • Practical experience with scripting languages (e.g., Shell-Script, VB-Script)
  • Practical experience in data backup and with central storage systems
  • Practical experience in the configuration and administration of hardware servers
  • Practical experience in the administration of virtualization platforms like VMware
  • Practical experience in the administration of Virtual Desktop Environments with Citrix VDI
  • Practical experience in the administration of Microsoft Server Systems
