Job Summary

The Berlin Police Department is seeking diligent and reliable students for a dual study program in Computer Science, starting October 1, 2026. This unique program combines theoretical education at the Berlin School of Economics and Law (HWR Berlin) with practical experience at the Police Berlin's Information and Communication Technology Service Unit and/or the State Criminal Police Office. Students will gain hands-on experience in areas from software development to system administration, rotating between academic and practical phases every three months. The curriculum covers core computer science topics like programming, operating systems, databases, and project management, culminating in a Bachelor of Science degree. This role offers a guaranteed takeover upon successful completion, a study allowance, and the chance to contribute significantly to the operational capabilities of the Berlin Police.

Required Skills

Education

University entrance qualification (Abitur or Fachhochschulreife) or professionally qualified according to § 11 Berlin Higher Education Act. Bachelor of Science in Computer Science upon completion.

  • Conscientiousness and reliability. Very good knowledge of mathematics. Willingness to work full-time (39.4 hours/week), with part-time potentially possible. Must submit complete application documents in German, including school certificates and potentially professional qualifications. Foreign degrees require recognition and certified translation.
