Job Summary
Join the Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt) as a Software Reverse Engineering Project Specialist, contributing to the EU research project REVEAL. In this role, you will be instrumental in the reverse engineering of mobile applications and operating system components, analyzing and bypassing anti-reverse engineering techniques. Your day-to-day will involve developing innovative methods for forensic data acquisition from mobile phones, coordinating with project partners, presenting research findings at conferences, and fulfilling reporting obligations. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in a critical law enforcement context, working on cutting-edge challenges in IT security and digital forensics. The role requires a strong background in computer science or related MINT fields, with a focus on operating systems and software analysis, and offers a chance to make a significant societal impact.
Required Skills
Education
Scientific university degree (Diploma, Magister, or Master) in Computer Science, IT Security, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable scientific university degree from a MINT field. Alternatively, a university degree (Diploma (FH) or Bachelor) from a MINT field with an IT component.
Experience
- Professional experience in software analysis/reverse engineering and ARM microprocessor architecture
- Experience in managing scientific funding projects
- At least four years of professional experience in a relevant IT field if holding a Bachelor's degree
Languages
Additional
- Must consent to and pass a simple security clearance check (SÜG § 8). Must be willing to provide a DNA sample for inclusion in the BKA's internal reference file (BKA-Gesetz § 24) to exclude as a potential trace source in forensic investigations. Willingness to travel occasionally (2-3 times per year, 2-5 days per trip, domestic/international) for project workshops and conferences.
