Job Summary

This role involves leading the planning, implementation, and oversight of critical species and habitat protection initiatives within the Baden-Württemberg state government. The specialist will manage statewide programs focusing on species affected by renewable energy expansion, field birds, and amphibians, including budget planning, area acquisition, and performance monitoring. Key responsibilities also include providing expert opinions on conservation concepts, advising local authorities on implementation, and preparing comprehensive reports. Required Skills

Education

University Diploma or Master's degree in Biology, Natural Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or comparable fields with a focus on Nature Conservation and/or Landscape Ecology, or with a field ecology focus. Accreditation of degree required if obtained from a university of applied sciences or dual university.

Experience

  • Professional experience in nature conservation and/or landscape ecology (if degree focus is not in these areas)
  • Experience in implementing biotope and species protection measures, including relevant funding programs (advantageous)
  • Expert assessment experience in species protection (advantageous)
  • Administrative experience and knowledge of nature conservation laws and regulations (advantageous)

  • Valid Class B driving license; willingness to conduct outdoor activities, sometimes in difficult terrain and with physical exertion; willingness to attend evening appointments.
