Job Summary
As an IT Administrator specializing in Middleware and Applications, you will be a key player in ensuring the seamless operation of IT services for Bielefeld University, supporting approximately 30,000 users across research, teaching, and administration. You will be responsible for the administration, troubleshooting, and restoration of services, working within experienced teams to conceptualize, implement, and operate sophisticated and secure IT services, particularly for the Medical Faculty. This role involves both project-based and operational tasks, including designing and deploying server applications on-premises and in cloud environments, automating systems with scripting, providing 2nd/3rd-level support, and maintaining documentation. The position offers an opportunity for continuous learning and development in a dynamic, team-oriented environment, with a focus on evolving IT landscapes.
Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Business Informatics) OR completed vocational training as an IT Specialist for System Integration with several years of experience as a (System) Administrator
Experience
- Professional experience in IT administration
- Experience with and administration knowledge of two different operating system types (e.g., Windows, Mac OS, Linux, AIX, FreeBSD, Solaris) and their interaction in heterogeneous environments
- Experience in operating server systems and server applications
