Job Summary

This role is for a passionate Linux Systems Engineer to join the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) in Germany. You will be responsible for the maintenance, development, and ensuring the availability of the Linux environment, including patch and release management for new Linux versions. Operating Linux servers in a virtualized environment (VMware, containers) is a key part of the daily tasks. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the digitalization of a significant federal authority and support sustainable initiatives like energy-efficient construction, export control, and structural aid in lignite mining regions. The ideal candidate will be an engaged, communicative, and analytical individual with a structured and results-oriented approach, eager to contribute to the future IT infrastructure.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent degree (e.g., from Mathematics, Natural Sciences, or Technology fields with a focus on Computer Science).

Experience

  • Professional experience with Linux, preferably SuSE Linux Enterprise
  • Professional experience with network technologies and protocols
  • Professional experience with software packaging
