Job Summary

Join the Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt) as a Software Reverse Engineering Project Engineer, contributing to the EU research project REVEAL. In this role, you will be responsible for reverse engineering applications and components of mobile operating systems, analyzing and bypassing anti-reverse engineering techniques, and developing new methods for forensic data acquisition from mobile phones. You will also build and coordinate police information collections, collaborate with project partners, present research findings at meetings and conferences, and fulfill reporting obligations according to EU guidelines. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in meaningful work within a federal authority, tackling challenging tasks in the field of crypto and software analysis.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree (Diplom, Magister, or Master) in Computer Science, IT Security, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable scientific university degree in a MINT field. Alternatively, a completed university degree (Diplom [FH] or Bachelor) in a MINT field with an IT component.

Experience

  • Professional experience in software analysis/reverse engineering and ARM microprocessor architecture
  • Experience in conducting scientific funding projects
  • At least four years of professional experience in a relevant IT-related field (if holding a Bachelor's degree)

Additional

  • This is a fixed-term contract for a maximum duration of 1.5 years, ending no later than April 30, 2027. Requires readiness for flexible working hours due to occasional business trips (2-3 times per year, 2-5 days in length, domestic/international) for workshops and conferences related to the REVEAL project. On-site work is required due to the specific nature of the tasks.
