Job Summary
The University Hospital Düsseldorf is seeking two highly motivated Doctoral Researchers in Natural Sciences to join Prof. Dr. Joachim Schmitt and Dr. Florian Funk's research group at the Institute of Pharmacology. This position focuses on investigating the pathomechanisms of heart diseases, specifically the regulation of calcium-dependent contraction and relaxation in cardiac muscle cells, with an emphasis on SERCA2a and Phospholamban (PLN). The successful candidates will conduct experimental studies on PLN oligomerization modulation and its impact on heart function in various disease models, applying and developing molecular and cell biological methods. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research aimed at developing novel therapeutic approaches for heart conditions within a supportive and interdisciplinary team.
Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree (Diplom or Master) in Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, or a related natural science discipline
Experience
- Strong interest in scientific research

- Foundational knowledge in molecular and cell biology
- Experience with experimental investigation and method development
Languages
Additional
- Temporary employment for 3 years (65% part-time), with option for extension. Position is for qualification according to WissZeitVG (§ 2 Abs. 1).
