Job Summary

The LIAG - Leibniz Institute for Applied Geophysics is seeking a dedicated IT Specialist for System and Application Administration. In this role, you will be crucial in maintaining and optimizing the institute's IT infrastructure, which supports cutting-edge geoscientific research. Your daily tasks will involve system updates, troubleshooting, creating automations, user support, and ensuring data backups for Linux servers. You will also be responsible for documenting technical procedures and optimizing system performance across a mixed OS environment. Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Bachelor, Diploma-FH or equivalent) in Information Technology, other MINT fields, or a comparable discipline.

Experience

  • Several years of relevant professional experience in the specified task areas
  • Proven experience in Linux and Windows server administration
  • Proven experience with Powershell and Batch-, Bash-Scripting
  • Proven knowledge in handling databases
  • Proven practical experience in fault analysis and troubleshooting
  • Professional experience at a research institution or public authority (ideal)
  • Practical experience with database administration (ideal)
  • Proven knowledge and experience in container technologies and automation pools (ideal)
