Job Summary
This role is for an IT Administrator specializing in middleware and applications at the University of Bielefeld's IT Service Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and restoration of IT services, particularly for the Medical Faculty. Working within experienced teams, you will conceptualize, implement, and operate secure IT services, focusing on both on-premises and cloud environments. Key responsibilities include designing and building server applications, automating systems using scripting and tools, providing 2nd/3rd-level support, and maintaining documentation. The ideal candidate will have a degree in a relevant IT field or equivalent professional experience, strong knowledge of multiple operating systems, scripting, and server operations. Excellent English skills are essential, along with a proactive, analytical, and team-oriented approach.
Required Skills
Education
University degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or related field; alternatively, completed vocational training as an IT Specialist for System Integration.
Experience
- Professional experience as a System Administrator (if no degree)
- Experience in and administration knowledge of two different operating system types
- Experience in operating server systems and server applications
- Experience with Cloud or Container-based applications (desired)
- Basic knowledge in application-oriented database administration (desired)
- Experience with Single Sign-On technologies on the application side (desired)
