Job Summary

This role involves supporting scientific research in insect monitoring within agricultural landscapes. The Technical Assistant will primarily conduct fieldwork, including surveying insect fauna, identifying and assessing pest and beneficial insect populations in various crops, and meticulously documenting findings. Key responsibilities also include preparing field samples in the laboratory, structured data entry for monitoring results, and contributing to the documentation and analysis of experimental outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess a background in technical assistance, particularly in laboratory or biological fields, with foundational knowledge in entomology and field survey techniques. This position offers an engaging and challenging opportunity to contribute to significant agricultural research.

Required Skills

Education

Completed training as a Technical Assistant (LTA or BTA preferred) or Biology Laboratory Technician, or equivalent qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience as a technical assistant, preferably in agricultural or biological fields
  • Experience with field surveys and counting/rating plants and insects in the field

Additional

  • Valid Class III (B) driving license and willingness to undertake business trips independently using a company vehicle. Good physical fitness for fieldwork is required. This is a fixed-term, part-time position (29.25 hours/week) until September 30, 2028, subject to funding availability. International applicants must provide a certificate evaluation from the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB) if their degree is from outside Germany.
