Job Summary

The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Germany's national metrology institute, is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher or Doctoral Candidate to join their Radioactivity department in Braunschweig. This role focuses on developing innovative measurement techniques for environmental and climate research, particularly in radon metrology. The successful candidate will conduct experimental work in alpha and gamma spectrometry, including building radon sensor networks and expanding measurement capabilities within European greenhouse gas networks. Key responsibilities also involve developing modern, primary standard-traceable calibration methods, analyzing large datasets using machine learning and AI, and establishing digital processes for data provision. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to interdisciplinary teams, participate in European third-party funded projects, and publish research findings, all within a leading international research environment.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Diplom/Master) in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a comparable field. Doctoral candidates will pursue a PhD.
