Job Summary

This role involves the conceptual development and operation of a comprehensive data management system for the Forest Research Institute Baden-Württemberg (FVA). The specialist will be responsible for operating and enhancing the internal database infrastructure, establishing a standardized development environment, and managing the software portfolio. A key aspect is providing IT consulting and support to scientific staff for research projects, alongside automating operational processes and data analyses using R and/or Python. Required Skills

Education

Successfully completed degree in Computer Science, Geoinformatics, Forest Sciences, Environmental Sciences with a strong IT background, or a comparable field with IT specialization. Accreditation of the degree may need to be proven.

Experience

  • Professional experience in IT infrastructure and data management, preferably in a research context
  • Several years of active application or long-term professional experience in multiple areas of the job responsibilities
  • Experience supporting scientific personnel
  • Experience in user service and with external service providers
  • Experience in planning, organizing, and conducting technical meetings and internal training for IT administrators and scientific personnel
