Job Summary
As an AI Engineer at ellamind, you will be instrumental in developing, optimizing, and integrating cutting-edge AI models for a platform designed to accelerate AI application improvement and process automation for businesses. Your daily tasks will involve hands-on development and fine-tuning of LLM-based applications, including prompt engineering and model evaluation. You'll implement and optimize Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, seamlessly integrating AI models into the platform's Django Ninja backend and Next.js frontend. A key aspect of the role is developing monitoring systems for model quality and performance, alongside designing intuitive user interfaces for complex AI functionalities. This position offers the chance to automate AI workflows, explore multimodal AI systems, and significantly influence the product and technology direction in a dynamic startup environment, working closely with founders and early team members.
Required Skills
Education
Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated skills through personal projects and professional experience.
Experience
- Professional experience demonstrating outstanding quality of work in AI/ML development through career and/or projects
- Practical experience with Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Familiarity with modern AI development practices

- Must have an EU work permit. Willingness to work on-site at the Bremen office at least 3 days/week, with a potential future move to a Berlin office.
