Job Summary
As an AI Research Engineer at ellamind, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of Large Language Model (LLM) evaluation and training methods. You will contribute to cutting-edge research projects focusing on LLM evaluation, benchmarking, multilingual LLMs, reward models, and synthetic data generation. Your role involves optimizing and automating AI workflows, scaling them on large GPU clusters, and exploring multimodal AI systems. This position offers a unique opportunity to integrate research findings directly into products, working closely with founders and leading research institutions. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of LLMs, strong Python skills, and experience with deep learning frameworks, demonstrating a passion for AI research and problem-solving within a dynamic startup environment.
Required Skills
Education
Outstanding degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science (PhD preferred) or equivalent skills demonstrated through high-profile public personal projects or professional experience.
Experience
- Demonstrated outstanding quality of work through career and/or projects
- Practical experience with LLMs (e.g., GPT, Claude, open-source alternatives)
- Deep understanding of the technical foundations behind LLMs
- Experience with the Open-Source (LLM) ecosystem
- Ideally, experience with LLM evaluation frameworks (e.g., lm-eval-harness, light-eval)
- Ideally, experience with Multi-GPU setups or GPU clusters

- EU work permit required; Willingness to work on-site at least 3 days/week in the Bremen office (with a perspective to move to a planned Berlin office mid-term).
