Job Summary
The Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences is seeking a motivated PhD student to join the Molecular Mechanisms of Membrane Trafficking research group. The successful candidate will engage in structural studies of membrane trafficking, primarily utilizing cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) and subtomogram averaging to visualize molecular machines. This role involves both wet and dry lab experiments, requiring expertise in biochemistry or cell biology for sample preparation and scripting skills for ET data processing. The position offers comprehensive training in cryo-electron microscopy and related techniques, fostering interdisciplinary research within an international team. Required Skills
Education
M.Sc. degree in molecular, cell, structural biology, computer science, digital image analysis, or related fields. Enrollment in a PhD program at the Graduate Center for Neurosciences, Biophysics, and Molecular Biosciences (GGNB).
Experience
- Minimum six months long qualification research project in molecular, cell, structural biology, computer science, digital image analysis, or related fields
- Evident experience in cryo-electron tomography, biochemistry, cell biology, or scripting for ET data processing is preferred
