Job Summary

This role involves driving innovative research and development in semiconductor technology, focusing on advanced electro-optical sensor systems for diverse applications from biomedicine to quantum technologies. You will be responsible for initiating and executing projects, from process development to production readiness, including project leadership from acquisition to completion. Key tasks include conducting component and process simulations, planning development steps, creating production run cards, and characterizing manufactured components in state-of-the-art labs. A significant part of the work involves developing Single Photon Avalanche Diodes (SPADs) and multispectral sensors within a pilot line, contributing to a robust European semiconductor supply chain. The position offers an opportunity to specialize in process optimization for modern SPADs or new semiconductor integration technologies, publish scientific findings, and mentor junior staff.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or university diploma in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Nanoengineering, or a comparable field

Experience

  • Professional experience in micro- and semiconductor technology, preferably in microelectronics and microsystems technology
  • Practical experience in cleanroom activities is ideal
  • Initial experience in project management is beneficial

  • The position is initially limited to 3 years, with interest in long-term collaboration. The weekly working hours are 39 hours, and the position can also be filled part-time. Employment, remuneration, and social benefits are based on the collective agreement for public service (TVöD).
