Job Summary

This part-time (50%) doctoral position focuses on scientific research and the execution of a PhD in the field of head-worn wearables for activity recognition. The successful candidate will conduct comprehensive literature and market analyses, systematically evaluating the current state of research and existing technological solutions to identify key research gaps. Responsibilities also include preparing project and third-party funding applications, which involves researching suitable funding programs, drafting project outlines, and coordinating application submissions. A significant part of the role involves developing and testing initial prototype systems using head-worn sensor technology, setting up test environments, analyzing sensor data, evaluating data quality, and meticulously documenting results. Additionally, the doctoral researcher will conceptualize their dissertation and co-supervise related Bachelor's and Master's theses. This role is ideal for a highly motivated individual with a strong academic background in computer science, data science, or health informatics, eager to contribute to cutting-edge research in wearable technology.

Required Skills

Education

Very good university degree (Diplom Uni / Master) in Computer Science, Data Science, Health Informatics, or a comparable field.

Experience

Additional

  • The position is part-time (50%) and initially limited to 1 year. The compensation is based on TV-L (collective agreement for public service employees in German states) and is classified as salary group E13 TV-L. Suitable for severely disabled persons, who will be given preference if equally qualified. For foreign university degrees, a certificate evaluation from ZAB (Zentralstelle für ausländisches Bildungswesen) is mandatory during the hiring process.
