Job Summary

This part-time (50%) doctoral position, initially for one year, focuses on scientific research and dissertation preparation in head-worn wearables for activity recognition. The successful candidate will conduct comprehensive literature and market analyses, systematically reviewing research and technological solutions to identify key research gaps. Responsibilities also include preparing project proposals and securing third-party funding by researching suitable programs, drafting project outlines, and coordinating applications. The role involves developing and testing initial prototype systems using head-worn sensors, building test environments, analyzing sensor data, evaluating data quality, and documenting findings. Additionally, the doctoral researcher will conceptualize their dissertation and co-supervise related Bachelor's and Master's theses, contributing to a vibrant academic environment.

Required Skills

Education

Very good university degree (Diplom Uni / Master) in Computer Science, Data Science, Health Informatics, or a comparable field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in scientific work (advantageous)
  • Experience with wearables, signal processing, and machine learning
