Job Summary
The Saxon State Archives is seeking a Data Science Officer to join Department 12, focusing on fundamental archival matters and electronic archiving. This role involves conceptualizing, building, and optimizing digital offerings for archival access, particularly for a virtual reading room. Key responsibilities include developing guidelines for digitization, implementing automated archival processes, and managing and enhancing archive information systems and metadata-relevant electronic systems. The ideal candidate will contribute to making both analog and electronic archives accessible for the future, demonstrating innovative ideas and a results-oriented approach. This position offers the opportunity to work independently, cooperatively, and conceptually within a supportive team environment, contributing to the modernization of public information services and the digital transformation of the state administration.
Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree (Diploma, Master's, or Magister) in Computer Science, Information Science, Digital Humanities, Data Science, Business Informatics, Administrative Informatics, or Digital Data Management; OR eligibility for the second entry-level of career group 2 in General Administration, with a focus on Archival Services.
Experience
- Professional experience in an archive or other cultural heritage institution (preferred)
- Experience in developing user-oriented online offerings (preferred)
