Job Summary

This role involves supporting and representing the head of the Environmental Protection department, taking on overall responsibility for waste management, including planning, controlling, monitoring, and documenting disposal processes. The officer will handle internal and external environmental inquiries, provide consultation, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations across properties within the Bundeswehr Service Center Kaufbeuren. Key responsibilities also include conducting and documenting environmental inspections, overseeing defect resolution, and addressing specialized tasks in environmental, soil, and water protection, as well as contaminated sites. The position requires preparing environmental status reports, conducting training and public relations in environmental protection, and supporting environmental exhibitions. This is a full-time, permanent position, with options for civil servant status or an attractive public service salary.

Required Skills

Education

Completed technical university degree (Bachelor or Diploma (FH)) in Environmental Protection, Environmental Technology, Environmental Safeguarding, Waste Management and Contaminated Sites, or a comparable degree with additional qualification in technical environmental protection or circular and waste management.

Experience

  • Professional experience in circular economy and waste management, and related legal fields, demonstrated by at least two years of prior relevant professional activity.
  • Experience in other areas of environmental protection, particularly in water, soil, and immission control and related legal fields (desired).
  • Experience in occupational safety, especially in handling hazardous substances (desired).
  • Experience in processing contaminations (contaminated sites and harmful soil changes according to the Federal Soil Protection Act) (desired).
  • Experience in handling electronic waste verification (desired).

  • Must possess a Class B driving license and be willing to acquire a Bundeswehr Class B driving license and operate a service vehicle. Must commit to the liberal democratic basic order as per the German Basic Law. Must agree to participate in a health suitability assessment and, if applicable, an extended security clearance according to the Federal Security Clearance Act. For civil servant appointment, generally must not have completed the 50th year of age at the time of appointment; otherwise, employment as a tariff employee may be possible.
