Job Summary
As an Environmental Engineer within the Lower Waste Management Authority, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding natural resources and ensuring healthy living conditions in the Siegen-Wittgenstein region. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve independently overseeing waste disposal processes across the entire chain, from waste generators to disposal companies. This includes monitoring commercial and industrial waste, supervising disposal operations using electronic tracking systems (ASYS), and assessing/approving waste storage and treatment facilities. You will also be responsible for issuing waste generator numbers, processing related applications, and enforcing waste management regulations, including prosecuting violations. This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to environmental protection by ensuring proper waste management and compliance with legal requirements.
Required Skills
Education
Completed degree (Dipl.-Ing. (FH) / Bachelor) in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, or a comparable field with a strong focus on waste management. Ideally, training as an Environmental Senior Inspector.
Experience
- Professional experience in waste management and environmental monitoring
- Experience in applying the electronic tracking system (ASYS) for commercial disposal processes
- Experience in enforcing environmental and waste management regulations
Languages
Additional
- Class B driving license and willingness to use own vehicle for business trips (if no pool vehicle is available). Willingness to participate in environmental on-call duty. Must be eligible for employment in the public service in Germany.
