Job Summary
The Kreis Mettmann, a modern communal administration, is seeking a Head of Department for Policy and Lower Waste Management Authority. This role involves leading and managing a department of 12 employees, including engineers and administrative staff, overseeing waste monitoring and supporting other environmental authorities. Key responsibilities include ensuring proper task fulfillment, budget planning, personnel management, and strategic development of the department. The successful candidate will also be involved in public relations, advising political bodies, and handling complex legal and administrative matters. Required Skills
Education
Civil servants with qualification for the second entry-level of career group 2 of general administrative service (former higher non-technical service) OR successful completion of a law degree at a university with first state examination and subsequent preparatory service with second state examination. Alternatively, civil servants with qualification for the first entry-level of career group 2 of general administrative service (former senior non-technical service) with several years of professional experience and willingness to complete Modular Qualification. Tariff employees with successfully completed Administrative Course II OR successfully completed law degree (1st and 2nd state examination) and willingness to complete Modular Qualification.
Experience
- Leadership experience relevant to the field (desirable)
- Several years of professional experience in a position with at least the status of "Amtsrat / Amtsrätin" (A 12 LBesO NRW) for civil servants
- Several years of leadership experience (desirable) for civil servants and tariff employees

- Willingness to complete Modular Qualification (for specific civil servant and tariff employee profiles).
