Job Summary
Heidelberg University is seeking an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Research Associate to join their Metabolomics Core Technology Platform. This role involves operating, maintaining, and advancing a new Mass-Spectrometry Imaging (MSI) platform, specifically the Bruker timsTOF fleX MALDI-2. The successful candidate will develop and optimize workflows for spatial metabolomics, lipidomics, and multimodal studies, while also providing expert consultation and training to internal and external users. This position offers a unique opportunity to drive method development for single-cell MSI and integrate with other spatial omics techniques within the collaborative MULTI-SPACE alliance. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a relevant life science discipline, proven expertise in MSI, and a service-oriented mindset, contributing intellectually to cutting-edge research and co-authoring publications.
Required Skills
Education
PhD (or equivalent) in analytical/biological chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology or a related life-science discipline
Experience
- Proven expertise in Mass-Spectrometry Imaging (MSI)
- Hands-on MALDI and spatial metabolomics experience required
- Experience with Bruker timsTOF instruments or comparable high-resolution MS platforms (strong plus)
- Willingness to manage and initiate cooperative projects
- Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines
- Scientific track record
