Job Summary

The City of Hameln is seeking a Water Protection Engineer to join its Environmental and Climate Protection department. This role involves comprehensive case management within the lower water authority and port authority, ensuring compliance with water laws and port regulations. Key responsibilities include reviewing and approving water-related applications, overseeing environmental planning, participating in water body inspections, and responding to incidents involving water-polluting substances. The position also focuses on managing rainwater runoff according to DWA A102 standards, developing riparian buffer strip programs, and maintaining geodata. The ideal candidate will possess a strong engineering background in water management, legal knowledge, and experience with GIS, contributing to the city's environmental protection and climate adaptation efforts.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's or Diploma degree in Hydraulic Engineering, (Urban) Water Management, Technical Environmental Protection, or comparable engineering-scientific field. Certification or willingness to obtain training in 'Accidents with water-polluting substances'.

Experience

  • Professional experience in water management or environmental protection
  • Experience with Geoinformation Systems (ArcGIS, QGIS)
  • Experience with legal regulations (WHG, NWG, DWA guidelines, building law, DIN standards, HOAI)
  • Participation in on-site inspections
