Job Summary

This role at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel's Institute for Materials Science seeks a highly motivated Research Associate to strategically coordinate interdisciplinary research and teaching in optoelectronic materials for energy and medical applications. The successful candidate will develop research concepts, coordinate grant applications for national and international funding, and build/optimize advanced optoelectronic characterization infrastructure. Day-to-day tasks involve active contribution to experimental and theoretical research in thin-film technologies, alongside planning and conducting teaching activities for Bachelor's and Master's programs. This includes supervising exercises, practicals, and theses, as well as contributing to curriculum development. The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research in renewable energies and material sciences within a dynamic academic environment.

Required Skills

Education

Doctorate (PhD) in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field (ideally excellent)

Experience

  • Extensive knowledge in manufacturing and advanced characterization of thin films and optoelectronic materials for energy or medical technology applications
  • Extensive theoretical knowledge for conducting simulations of material properties
  • Proven experience with both wet chemical deposition processes and vapor deposition techniques
  • Proven ability to design and develop advanced optoelectronic characterization setups
  • Experience in preparing successful research proposals and project coordination (desirable)
  • Pronounced teaching experience, preferably in material sciences or a related field (desirable)
