Job Summary

The Landesamt für Umwelt Rheinland-Pfalz is seeking a dedicated IT System Administrator to join their Information and Communication Technology department in Mainz. In this full-time, permanent role, you will be instrumental in shaping the IT infrastructure, providing essential 1st and 2nd level user support, and managing server environments. Key responsibilities include client management, user and access administration, software distribution, and patch management. You will also be involved in network and communication technology support, as well as the planning and implementation of IT security measures. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor / Diploma FH) in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Mathematics, Communication Technology, or comparable IT-related fields.

Experience

  • At least one year of relevant professional experience
  • Proven experience with MS Windows 11 desktop operating system
  • Proven experience with MS Windows Server operating systems (2016 and later)
  • Proven experience with Active Directory, Group Policies, NTFS permissions
  • Basic knowledge of server virtualization with storage solutions
  • Proven experience in software distribution and service management
  • Proficient in network technology
  • Applied experience with IT security programs and firewalls
  • Experience in evaluating and tracking CERT reports (advantageous)
  • Experience in managing and coordinating external specialized companies (advantageous)

German (Fluent)

Additional

  • Valid Class B driving license (old: Class III) and willingness to drive official vehicles or be driven by a work assistant (advantageous). Must be reliable, engaged, flexible, resilient, quick to grasp new concepts, able to work independently and in a small team, action-oriented, and willing to quickly adapt to changing tasks. Must be able to work in Mainz, Germany. Foreign degrees require proof of equivalence to German qualifications.
