Job Summary

This role focuses on advancing the future of engineering by researching and developing digital engineering approaches, integrating Systems Engineering, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and Artificial Intelligence (AI). You will work on projects that bridge engineering IT, PLM, ALM, and AI, analyzing existing processes, developing target visions, and implementing solutions with industry partners. A key aspect involves integrating new AI functionalities into existing toolchains and engineering processes, evaluating their real-world value. The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the transformation of engineering processes, publish research, and advance the field of Advanced Systems Engineering within a leading applied research organization.

Required Skills

Education

Very well-completed university degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a comparable technical field.

Experience

  • University degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a comparable technical field
  • At least initial experience in several of the following areas: PLM, ALM, Engineering IT, Systems Engineering, MBSE, Tool Integration, Data Management, or Technical Transformation Projects
  • Ideally, experience in consulting, implementation, or development projects (e.g., PLM strategies, engineering processes, tool landscapes, data models, traceability, digital continuity)
  • Practical experience with at least one established Engineering IT or PLM/ALM platform (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill, 3DEXPERIENCE, Polarion, Codebeamer, DOORS Next, Jama, Cameo)
  • Familiarity with technical and organizational change, translating requirements, processes, roles, data, and IT structures into a robust future vision
  • Interest in modern AI technologies in engineering or initial insights into LLMs, assistance systems, workflow automation, analytics, or intelligent knowledge access
