Job Summary
Join a dynamic research environment at the Otto Schott Institute for Material Research, Friedrich Schiller University Jena, as a full-time Laboratory Technician. You will be responsible for laboratory safety, including radiation and fire protection, and manage day-to-day lab organization and documentation. Your role involves operating and maintaining chemical-analytical instruments for thermal and structural analysis, such as simultaneous thermal analysis and X-ray diffractometry. You will also handle material procurement, manage inventory, conduct and analyze physical-chemical measurements, and support student laboratory work. This position requires a technical vocational training in chemistry or a related field, strong knowledge of inorganic chemistry, and experience with analytical techniques and lab safety regulations. Technical vocational training (e.g., Technical Assistant, Chemical-Technical Assistant, Chemical Laboratory Assistant) or comparable skills and experience.
Experience
- Professional experience as a Technical Assistant, Chemical-Technical Assistant, or Chemical Laboratory Assistant, or comparable skills and experience
- Relevant experience with basic analytical techniques and methods
- Relevant experience in the analysis of thermal, thermomechanical, or structural properties of non-metallic inorganic materials
- Experience with X-ray diffractometry methods and procedures is desirable
- Experience in preparing non-metallic inorganic material samples for physical-chemical analysis is desirable

- Willingness to take on responsibility and flexibility regarding task areas. Must be willing to undergo training in safety, radiation, and fire protection.
