Job Summary

Join the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) as an AI Platform Engineering Scientist within the Digital Innovation department. You will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and optimizing AI solutions in a cloud environment, contributing to national security. Your day-to-day will involve conceptualizing modern AI platforms, advising clients on AI and cloud needs, optimizing AI hardware resource utilization through virtualization, and integrating AI infrastructure with existing BKA cloud services. This role requires a strong scientific academic background in IT-focused STEM fields or equivalent practical experience, coupled with expertise in AI and Large Language Models (LLMs). You will work collaboratively in agile teams to build a future-oriented infrastructure vital for public safety, making a tangible impact in a dynamic and challenging setting.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific higher education (university diploma, Magister or Master) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable IT-focused STEM field. Alternatively, comparable skills and experience with a completed STEM university degree (Diplom (FH) or Bachelor) with an IT component and at least four years of professional experience. Or, comparable skills and experience with a completed IT-focused vocational training and at least eight years of professional experience.

Experience

  • Experience and expertise in AI and Large Language Model (LLM) systems and associated products.
  • Practical experience with the operation and design of AI and LLM systems.
  • Initial practical experience working in agile teams.
  • If applicable: A minimum of four years of professional experience in a relevant field, in addition to a completed STEM university degree (Diplom (FH) or Bachelor) with an IT component.
  • If applicable: A minimum of eight years of professional experience in a relevant field, in addition to a completed IT-focused vocational training.

  • Willingness for flexible working hours. Willingness to undertake business trips, primarily for training and conferences (planned, occasional: 2-3 events per year).
