Job Summary
The Helmut Schmidt University is seeking an IT Specialist for its Media Center to manage and further develop the ILIAS server cluster, which serves as a learning management system and communication platform. This role involves developing web applications (front-end and back-end), project management for software development, providing user support (2nd and 3rd level), and assisting with system configuration and monitoring. The position offers flexible working hours, potential for telework, and opportunities for professional development. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in IT or a related field, coupled with significant professional experience in web development and system administration.
Required Skills
Education
University degree (Diplom [FH] or Bachelor) in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Media Informatics, or a comparable field. Alternatively, a completed commercial or IT vocational training with documented experience in IT administration of the Open Source Software ILIAS.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in IT or a related field
- Experience in front-end and back-end web application programming with PHP, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and MySQL
- Experience in configuration, administration, and system monitoring of web architectures under Linux
- Experience in quality assurance of software products
- Leadership competence and teamwork skills

- Willingness to actively network within the ILIAS Open Source Community. Willingness to participate in further training and conferences domestically and abroad. Valid work permit for Germany.
