Job Summary

As a Principal Quantitative Geneticist at Bayer, you will be instrumental in advancing the Product Design pipeline by developing and implementing innovative quantitative genetics solutions. Your core responsibilities will include providing technical leadership, defining the technical strategy for optimizing breeding programs, and integrating new technologies to boost genetic gain and product performance. This role involves hands-on work with coding, developing, and utilizing models and algorithms for breeding program design, automated crossing processes, and genetic evaluation. Required Skills

Education

PhD in Quantitative Genetics, Plant or Animal Breeding, or a related scientific field with long-term relevant experience, OR an MS degree with extensive experience in developing quantitative genetics methods for breeding programs.

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams
  • Ability to lead and influence activities of teams without direct reporting relationships
  • Ability to lead and influence key stakeholders through challenges and opportunities
  • Experience in analyzing large biological datasets
  • Experience with quantitative and statistical genetics
  • Experience coding in C, Fortran, or similar languages
  • Proven track record and long-term experience in applying quantitative genetics theory, coding, and delivering/utilizing models, algorithms, and systems for breeding program design, goal definition, genomic evaluation, model development and validation using large datasets, and optimization of data acquisition in plant or animal breeding programs
