Job Summary

Join a multidisciplinary "One Health" initiative focused on zoonotic Borna Disease Virus 1 (BoDV-1) in Bavaria. This role involves supporting a project funded by the Bavarian Ministry of Health, contributing to viral genotyping, mapping prevalence, expanding sample collection networks, conducting pilot studies on transmission, and investigating environmental stability. You will also assist with awareness campaigns, clinical symptom studies, and environmental investigations. The position requires a natural science or veterinary medicine degree, strong organizational skills, and experience with various virological methods. This is a fixed-term, full-time position with flexible working hours and opportunities for professional development, located at the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut in Greifswald.

Required Skills

Education

Completed degree in Natural Sciences with a microbiological focus, or alternatively, a degree in Veterinary Medicine.

Experience

  • Professional experience in natural sciences with a microbiological focus or veterinary medicine
  • Experience in conducting RT-qPCR, RNA extraction methods, sequence data analysis, and cell culture work
  • Experience with other virological laboratory methods
  • Experience in planning and documenting animal experiments is advantageous
  • Professional experience in a multidisciplinary team
  • Driving license class B and general driving fitness
