Job Summary

The Rudolf-Virchow-Zentrum at the University of Würzburg is seeking a full-time Technical Assistant for a one-year fixed-term contract with the potential for extension. This role supports interdisciplinary research in translational biology, focusing on microbiology, high-resolution microscopy, and AI-driven image processing for developing new antimicrobial therapies and diagnostics. The position involves hands-on work with cell cultures, molecular biology techniques, experimental drug testing, lab equipment maintenance, and sample analysis. Ideal candidates will have a completed BTA/MTLA qualification, research lab experience (preferably in microbiology), strong organizational skills, and proficiency in MS Office. Good English communication skills are also required.

Completed training as BTA/MTLA (Biologisch-technische/r Assistent/in / Medizinisch-technische/r Laboratoriumsassistent/in)

Experience

  • Experience in a research laboratory, ideally in the field of microbiology
  • Professional experience in laboratory techniques such as cell culture, molecular biology, and microscopy
  • Experience in coordinating material and chemical needs
  • Experience in producing buffers and solutions
  • Experience with common IT applications (MS Office, Excel)
