Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Engineer specializing in Electrochemistry to join our client's team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of an electrochemical laboratory, ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations. Your day-to-day tasks will involve preparing, conditioning, and analyzing redox-active electrolytes, particularly vanadium-based or organic systems. You will also build, commission, and manage redox flow battery cells and associated test setups at the lab scale. A key part of your work will be planning, conducting, and evaluating electrochemical investigations, including cycling tests, polarization measurements, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). You will ensure reproducible results through structured documentation and data management, and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs). Additionally, you will support performance evaluations, analyze degradation mechanisms, manage lab equipment, and provide technical guidance to junior staff. This position requires a hands-on approach and a strong understanding of electrochemical methods.

Required Skills

Education

Completed training as a technician or a completed degree (Bachelor, Master, Diplom) in Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a comparable field.

Experience

  • Several years (ideally > 3 years) of practical experience in a chemical or electrochemical laboratory environment
  • Professional experience in the setup, commissioning, and support of redox flow battery cells and associated test setups
  • Experience in planning, conducting, and evaluating electrochemical investigations
  • Experience in developing, establishing, and maintaining standardized laboratory and experimental procedures (SOPs)
  • Experience in providing technical support and guidance to engineers, students, and technical personnel
