Job Summary

The Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology (Leibniz-HKI) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the junior research group (Epi-)Genetic Regulation of Fungal Virulence. This role focuses on understanding the infection strategies of Fusarium species, an emerging human pathogen capable of infecting both plants and humans, including causing severe eye infections. The successful candidate will conduct interdisciplinary scientific research, utilizing excellent technical facilities and collaborating with local, national, and international scientific partners. Key responsibilities include independent research, lab responsibilities, and student supervision. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-priority research on fungal pathogens within a supportive and collaborative scientific environment.

Required Skills

Education

PhD (or equivalent) in biology, immunology, microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or a related discipline

Experience

  • Professional experience in biology, immunology, microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or a related discipline
  • Strong interest in infection biology and immunology
  • Practical experience in cell culture is desired
  • Additional experience in fungal molecular biology and fluorescence microscopy is an advantage
  • Ability to perform team-oriented and independent work
  • Willingness to take on responsibility in the lab and to supervise students
