Job Summary
Join the Biotechnology Chair at RWTH Aachen University as an IT System Administrator. In this full-time, permanent role, you will be responsible for the planning, operation, and maintenance of the institute's network for approximately 65 users, in collaboration with the university's IT Center. Your daily tasks will include installing and administering Windows and Linux computers, managing Windows network services, serving as the primary IT contact for institute staff, and handling database programming and virtual server maintenance. This position offers a dynamic work environment within an innovative and motivated team, with significant responsibility after an initial onboarding period. The role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background and a proactive approach to IT challenges.
Required Skills
Education
Degree or comparable qualification as a specialist in IT (Fachinformatiker/in) or equivalent
Experience
- Professional experience in IT system administration
- Experience with Windows operating systems and server/network services
- Experience in Linux operating system administration
- Experience in VMware administration
- Experience in network technology (switches, routers)
- Experience in database programming and maintenance
- Experience in maintaining virtual server systems
