Job Summary
The University Hospital Erlangen is seeking a dedicated PhD Candidate and Medical Physics Expert in training to join their Department of Medical Radiation Physics. In this role, you will balance high-level patient care with cutting-edge research. Your daily responsibilities include performing radiation treatment planning, ensuring rigorous quality assurance, and maintaining radiation protection standards for teletherapy. You will work within an interdisciplinary team of medical physicists, physicians, and data scientists, contributing to research projects that bridge clinical practice and technical innovation. A core component of this position is pursuing a doctorate (Dr. rer. biol. hum.) while simultaneously working toward official certification as a Medical Physics Expert. You will also be involved in teaching activities and the supervision of student theses. Required Skills
Education
Completed Master's degree or equivalent in Medical Physics, Physics, or a closely related field.
Experience
- Professional experience in medical physics or a related technical field is expected through academic background.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a structured manner within an interdisciplinary team.
- Experience or strong interest in academic research, publication, and conference presentation.

- This is a 75% part-time position, limited to 48 months. Applicants must be prepared to enroll in the Life@FAU graduate school and pursue a doctoral degree. Must be willing to obtain official certification (Sachkunde) for Medical Physics Expert in teletherapy.
