Job Summary

As an Embedded Test Engineer at Schmitt Engineering, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and performance of complex embedded systems and FPGA-based hardware. Your day-to-day responsibilities include designing and maintaining automated test suites, implementing Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) systems, and integrating testing processes into CI/CD pipelines. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers and hardware engineers, to define test strategies and debug C-based embedded software on target hardware. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in C programming, Python scripting, and practical experience in embedded testing environments. Required Skills

Education

University degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in embedded software development and/or embedded software testing
  • Practical experience in test automation for embedded systems, preferably including Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) testing
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or Azure DevOps
  • Experience in building, configuring, and maintaining test racks for embedded or FPGA-based hardware
  • Experience with debugging tools, measurement equipment, and version control systems
